When you actively click the NTDF Lens icon in your browser toolbar while on a supported product page, the extension temporarily reads specific Website Content from that active tab. This includes:

  • The product’s title and brand name.
  • The product’s ingredient list and description.
  • The product’s image URL.

This data is used strictly in real-time to cross-reference the product against trusted third-party certification directories and official brand statements.

3. What We DO NOT Collect

We are committed to your privacy. NTDF Lens does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not know your name, email, account details, or who you are.
  • Web History: We do not track the websites you visit or monitor your browsing activity outside of the specific product page you ask us to analyze.
  • User Activity: We do not log your keystrokes, mouse clicks, or personal communications.

4. Data Processing & Security

To verify product claims, NTDF Lens sends the extracted product data (brand name, product name, and ingredient list) to our secure, custom-built backend proxy.

  • This proxy acts as a secure bridge to query public web sources and independent directories (like PETA or The Vegan Society) without exposing private API keys or relying on remote code execution.
  • The data sent to our proxy is processed statelessly. We do not build a database of user queries, and we do not persistently store the data you analyze.

5. Data Sharing and Selling

We strictly adhere to the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies:

  • We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
  • We do not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.
  • We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our technology or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be reflected in the Chrome Web Store and on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
