TSA requirements for personal care products

Travelling can be an exciting experience, but it can also be overwhelming, especially when it comes to packing. In this blog post, we will discuss everything you need to know about TSA requirements for health and beauty products in hand luggage in order to help you comply with these regulations.

The 3-1-1 Rule

The most important rule to remember is the 3-1-1 rule. This rule states that all liquids, aerosols, and gels that you bring in your carry-on luggage must be in containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. All of these containers must be placed in one single, clear, plastic, quart-sized bag, and each passenger is only allowed one bag. This bag must be placed in a bin or on the conveyor belt during screening.

Travel-sized toiletries

Many personal care and grooming products such as toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and moisturizers come in travel-sized containers that meet the TSA’s regulations.

Pro tip: Roll-on perfumes are a convenient alternative to traditional spray perfumes. They come in small containers that are easy to pack and do not take up much space in your luggage.

Solid toiletries

Solid toiletries are a great option for travel since they are not considered liquids or gels. Products like solid shampoo bars, solid deodorants, and solid perfumes are great alternatives to traditional liquid products whenever you’re traveling.

Powder products

Lastly, powder products like dry shampoo, face powder, and talc are allowed in your carry-on and do not have to be in your plastic bag. These products are easy to use and come in small containers that are perfect for travel.

By bringing these travel-sized or travel-friendly products, you can save space in your luggage and avoid any issues with TSA requirements. Always remember to double-check the sizes of your products to make sure they comply with the TSA’s regulations.
